Catrina Lam from Des Voeux Chambers, was invited to serve as a panelist and moderator at an event organized by the Asian Academy of International Law and sponsored by Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati on June 5, 2023.
Catrina was joined by antitrust veterans Brent Snyder and Jindrich Kloub, data privacy expert Cedric Burton, and sanctions expert Mike Casey to discuss key trends in antitrust, privacy, cybersecurity, sanctions, and foreign direct investments from the perspectives of HK, the EU, the UK, and the US.
The discussion explored cross-jurisdictional issues that matter most to businesses in the region, including antitrust issues arising in the labor market, algorithms, and the ESG panorama. Additionally, the panel discussed the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation in the EU and its seminal application to artificial intelligence, as well as the sanctions regimes of the EU, US, and UK in terms of their cross-jurisdictional impact, facilitation, circumvention, and enforcement.
