DVC hosted the Applied Arbitration for Fellows course organised by the CIArb East Asia Branch at Des Voeux Chambers on 9 and 10 September 2023, which was attended by a dozen CIArb Fellows from both Hong Kong and the region.
The course was led by Anthony Houghton SC and other Chartered Arbitrators and involved realistic simulations of arbitration proceedings and providing ‘role-play’ opportunities for the participants (with Calvin Cheuk and Kaiser Leung and others acting as opposing Counsel) to help the fellows develop their skills and knowledge to effectively plan and manage arbitration proceedings and apply arbitration rules and guidelines. The participants also gained a practical understanding of drafting and interpreting procedural orders, identifying and resolving common procedural issues, and facilitating effective and compliant arbitration participation.
