On June 30, the ICC YAAF hosted the panel discussion “Behind the scenes of international arbitration in the APAC region” as a wrap of the 8th ICC Asia-Pacific Conference.
Des Voeux Chambers’ Cherry Qili Xu moderated panel discussion 1: The Good and the Bad: Arbitration Seats in the APAC Region. Among the panellists were Shi Jin Chia from Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee, Singapore, Ketan Gaur from Trilegal, New Delhi, Wincen Santoso from SANTOSO, MARTINUS & MULIAWAN ADVOCATES, Jakarta and Ying Zhang, Compliance Manager from Sinopec Kantons Holdings Limited, Hong Kong.
The panellists explored the pros and cons of seats for arbitration in the APAC region and shared behind-the-scenes stories about choosing seats, counsel, arbitrators, and enforcement. The practitioners also discussed opportunities that Hong Kong and Singapore can complement one another through collaboration, and how the practitioners from the APAC region can work together to develop arbitration industry in the region.
