The 20th International Commercial Arbitration Moot (“CIETAC Cup”) organized by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”) was successfully concluded (30 November – 2 December 2022). The tournament was conducted in the form of online mock trials, attracting 90 teams and more than 1,000 players from home and abroad, with over 230 arbitrators from 27 countries and regions acting as arbitrators. Des Voeux Chambers was proud to be the only barristers’ chambers from Hong Kong to sponsor and support the competition.
DVC members Ling Chun Wai, Michael Lok, Cherry Xu and Look Chan Ho were invited to participate in the round-robin online as arbitrators/presiding arbitrators, scoring the performance of the participants in terms of their performance, argumentation, legal presentation and courtroom skills. In addition, they also discussed and exchanged ideas with the participants and other arbitrators during the critique session.
On 2 December 2022, Dr William Wong, SC, JP attended the Finals and Awards Ceremony online as the guest of honour to announce the List of Second Prize and present awards to the winners, joined by Hong Ji Li, Partner of Commerce & Finance Law Offices to announce
The CIETAC CUP International Commercial Arbitration Moot is organized by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”). As the official Pre-Moot of Vis Moot, CIETAC CUP is committed to promoting the study of international commercial arbitration and to training future professionals in alternative dispute resolution by introducing international moot court cases. The competition is in English. Since 2000, CIETAC has successfully hosted 19 moots, attracting over 10,000 students from more than 200 prestigious law schools.
