On 28 February 2019, William Wong SC, Stephanie Wong, and Look-Chan Ho delivered an illuminating lunchtime seminar at Stevenson, Wong & Co’s offices.
William kick-started the seminar with a briefing on mutual recognition and enforcement and a review of his recent judgment Wang Qian Wei v. 郭文雨 and Another [2018] HKCFI 2253. Stephanie then elaborated on shareholders’ disputes in arbitration, homing in on the issue of jurisdiction. Stephanie gave a practical perspective by making reference to the case of Lasmos v. Southwest Pacific, Re Team Y & R Holdings Hong Kong Ltd. (CACV 6/2017, 21 July 2017) and the recent case of Dickson Valora Group (Holdings) Company Limited & Another v. Fan Ji Qian [2019] HKCFI 482.
Lastly, Look provided a comprehensive update on cross-border insolvency and winding-up which was stippled with anecdotes and practical tips curated for the audience made up of solicitors.
The intimate setting over lunchtime gave way to multiple questions and a meaningful exchange of views among their solicitors and our members.
