The Society of Construction Law Hong Kong International Conference was successfully held last Friday with full house attendance. This year’s theme was “Collaborative Contracting: Fostering Trust and Efficiency in Construction Projects”.
DVC’s Calvin Cheuk spoke in the afternoon session on “Dispute Resolution in Collaborative Contracts”. Other panellists included KAREN GOUGH from 39 Essex Chambers, James Niehorster from Pacific Chambers and Peter Scott Caldwell from Caldwell Ltd.
In his presentation, Calvin focused on three areas of the Security of Payment (“SOP”) bill. He began by emphasising the fact the SOP bill is based on the Australian model rather than the UK model. Calvin then explained the timeline adopted in the SOP bill, followed by the enforcement procedures. The audience participated in an interactive Q&A session before the panel concluded.
