Profile
Jason joined Chambers in 2023 following completion of pupillage with Mr Derek Chan SC, Mr Christopher Chain SC, Mr Alexander Tang and Mr Jason Yu. He has since established a broad civil practice, spanning commercial and property litigation, chancery, banking and finance, company and insolvency, and civil fraud. He regularly appears both as a sole advocate and a led junior across all levels of Court, as well as in international arbitrations and arbitration-related court litigation.
Notably, he was involved in the landmark case of Re Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings Ltd [2024] 2 HKLRD 1040 concerning the critical intersection between arbitration and winding-up proceedings. He also appeared before the Court of Final Appeal in High Fashion New Media Corp Ltd v. Leong Ma Li [2026] HKCFA 18, which clarified the law of civil contempt.
Beyond his appellate work, Jason is experienced in conducting trials, recently acting as sole trial counsel in a 5-day HKIAC arbitration and a 3-day High Court trial. His advisory and court practice services a prestigious client base of investors, listed companies, and major financial institutions, including HSBC, Bank of China (Hong Kong), and China CITIC Bank.
Prior to joining the Bar, Jason ranked first overall in his LLB degree at the University of Hong Kong. He then read the BCL at the University of Oxford on the Merton Lawyers’ BCL Scholarship and the DVC Oxford Scholarship, before obtaining the PCLL with Distinction at the University of Hong Kong. Throughout his studies, Jason was awarded a string of accolades, including the Thomson Reuters Law Prize (for the most promising candidate who intends to be a barrister) and the Sweet & Maxwell Edlyn Yap Prize for Litigation (for achieving the highest average mark in litigation-specific courses).
Complementing his busy practice with legal scholarship, Jason currently serves as a part-time Lecturer (Non-Clinical) in Equity and Trusts at the University of Hong Kong. His legal research has been published in several leading international and local peer-reviewed journals. He is also a contributor to the Butterworths Hong Kong Conveyancing and Property Law Handbook.
Jason is fluent in English, Putonghua and Cantonese.
